Open Space Futures
City of Smithville, MO

Working with Future IQ, DfA Principals conducted research for the city of Smithville, MO to ensure that open spaces and transportation systems are well-positioned to support future growth and investment. Research informed a Transportation Vision, Urban Development Master Plan, and an associated action plan with prioritized projects and funding sources.

Work focused on an array of areas, including emerging trends in open spaces such as edible gardens, cluster housing as scaffolding for public infrastructure, and resource generation options in civic spaces. Taking a more integrated view of the city’s public space network helped create a dynamic, adaptive master plan capable of providing multiple, sustaining advantages.
